I agree that the protests were misguided. If you check my political site (http://democraticparty.bellaonline.com/Site.asp) any time starting Tuesday evening, April 28th, you can read my article about it. I enjoyed reading your opinion piece and all the comments.

Thanks for coming over.

I agree -- the government has been over spending. I am uneasy. However, people seem not to understand that with the new election of the present, a new type of spending must be done to achieve goals. Where would be get if we sat down and did nothing?

Pacer521 - Thanks for stopping by my blog. Even though we do not agree about the Tea Parties, I do respect your right to have your own opinion. That's what freedom is about.

The tea parties are a result of government spending hitting a critical mass that made me and many like me unable to remain silent any longer. It is the frustration of the people who feel like they aren't being heard or represented. The combination of special interests and selective journalism have left many of us doubting that anyone is even listening. Some reports about the Tea parties vilified the demonstrators with ridiculous accusations of racism, hating, and unhealthy for America. Why is it when liberals have a dissenting voice its healthy for America? However, when the tables are turned the conservative voices are ridiculed, belittled and shouted down.

I have to take umbrage with the entire premise of your article, but especially when you said, "Speaking in a visibly loud tone, Candidate Obama stressed the fact that the American economy needed to change its ways. Although it was not popular, he stressed tightening the grip on the private sector, and yes, ""spending on bills which he, Congress, and a majority of the American people supported.""" (emphasis mine)

If you will recall, the American people supported the stimulus bill only before it was known what was in it. Support plummeted as the details became clear and everyone realized it was just a big power grab. Most of the spending doesn't even start until 2010. What kind of emergency stimulus is that?

The tax day protestors were out against massive government growth and debt creation. If that's the change we voted for then God help us!

Its nice of you to point out some of the few mistakes Pacer may have made, but I couldn't finish reading your post. This is because you are just like every single other conservative, you never give a liberal/democrat a sense of respect or equality when you are having a discussion. "People who cast their ballots in Obama's column on that premise are naive and ignorant to history" But yet you expect to be respected, if not your just another liberal brainless psycho, right? The anti-Bush movement was not only needed, it was justified. by his actions as commander-in-chief. What if the media were to be reporting that Obama was thinking about spying/wiretapping on journalists? You would be screaming that President Obama is a fascist/communist. Yet after Bush left office, this story broke out, barely anyone paid attention to it. I repeat again, I didn't hear anybody crying about Bush driving up the deficit like a mad-man.

Socialist? You are blinded by fear that by your conservative "leaders" and you are blindly believing in everything they say/tell you to believe.

White Lily --

Thank you for taking the time to comment on this post. Whether I agree or not, I can't tell you how much it means to have some constructive criticism. If you could, please check out my about page.

1. "Opposition to the President isn’t anything that should be discouraged, but when put into the context of this situation, in isn’t exactly healthy."

Nowhere I said that I agreed with the Bush hatred in the way it was brought out, nor do I support attacking our troops, and as you may know or will find out, I am in fact very conservative for a customary Democrat in my political stance.

Note where I say "in the context of this situation." My entire post was about allowing Obama to try the new policies that Americans elected him to do. George Bush -- in his first months in office -- had a very warm reception when he was implementing his respective new policies. This should be no different -- especially because Bush came into the presidency where there was relative quiet and Obama came in during an economy firestorm.

2. The hope that Obama's supports had was not "ignorant." They did not want to see the downward spiral that occurred in the past 8 years continue, and I assure you that you didn't either.

I wouldn't mind "'America working together' in 'unity' in some kind of 'post-partisan' utopia" and I bet you wouldn't either. Therefore, Obama ran on those principles, knowing that a very small percentage of them would come true, but in the process won over millions of Americans.

Essentially, without reaching for the stars, we won't be able to achieve anything more than what America has been given, and we will end up in a depression, and we will go bankrupt.

3. You are right. I phrased it wrong. He won a majority of the country, but if you look at the numbers, McCain won almost the entire middle America, where frankly -- generally -- citizens are un-informed politically, and -- in extreme cases, want to behead a black man running for president.

4. I don't find it strange that he is moving to the left, not socialism -- but I am too young to vote, so I cannot make that comparison to you. The informed voters knew exactly what they were voting for -- and I think if you interview each and every one of John McCain's voters, you will see a surprising number of them didn't know what they were voting in turn.

No problem -- thanks for commenting and the compliments. There were some of those signs -- and I agree -- as I wrote, MSNBC was visibly biased against it.

Look, as you probably know, I am 13 -- nowhere near retirement. I cannot go into your mind as a 60 year old, and therefore I cannot respond to your personal feelings.

There were people that attended because they wanted to make a logical difference (ie. you), and there were people who did hold up irrelevant signs.

The budget is out of control, and you have the right to complain, but what I continue to say is that the reason President Obama was elected was because the American people want to try something new. He has -- but people aren't recognizing that.

Thanks for the comment.
